Biography

George Gleeson received three degrees from Oregon State. He was a faculty member and administrator for 40 years, including head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Dean of Engineering from 1944 to 1970. He was a national leader in engineering education. He was recognized for outstanding contributions to professional societies, research groups, and governmental agencies, such as chairing the State Capitol Planning Committee for many years. He was known to be forthright in manner, dependable in judgment, dedicated in his devotion to his faculty, his students, and this institution. Dean Gleeson received the OSU Distinguished Service Award in 1968.
